I did this same process, but luckily with a background in science, exercise physiology, nutrition, and alternative medicine, I get to research the available info and pass my educated opinions on to you! Especially after you turn 40, it’s essential that you have a plan for longevity, quality of life, and if you’re reading this, keeping your youth as long as possible. Why You Should Learn How to Feel Younger
Have you noticed that some celebrities (hint: Jennifer Lopez—she literally is gorgeous and doesn’t look her age at all!) seem to age in reverse? Besides the classic anti-aging trick of skipping sugar, it’s important to know that there are other ways to slow down the aging process and feel a lot younger.
While there are lots of pills and supplements on the market that claim to be anti-aging miracles, using holistic techniques to improve your overall health and wellness is the BEST way to feel younger, especially after age 40.

Have you ever heard that old saying that goes, “Inside every old person is a young person wondering what the heck happened,” and felt like it was all too real for you? It’s time to know better and then do better so we can feel our best at any age. These five holistic anti-aging tips will help you feel younger, and look more youthful, in a short amount of time! The best part is, most of these are free, and you can start right now!
They don’t call exercise the fountain of youth for nothing! Being active is one of the best ways to improve your overall health, mood, and appearance. Beyond helping you lose weight, build muscle tone, strengthen your bones, and boosting your mood, exercise actually can help you feel younger by reducing the “mind fog” many of us feel as we age. By helping you think more clearly, you’ll be able to work more efficiently, remember more, focus easier, and in turn, feel amazing!

Sleep is essential to restoring the body, being healthy, and feeling good. I have an anti-aging e-book full of great tips to improve the quality of your sleep. When we let our bodies rest and recover correctly, they are able to repair and restore different areas more rapidly. Sleep impacts everything from your digestion to your mood, so it’s beyond important to be getting enough (and good quality) sleep every single night. My personal favorite sleep hacks include using a sleep mask to block out the light and a sound machine to drown out any noise that might disturb my beauty rest. I hate to break this to you if you haven’t already heard, but stress is one of the greatest factors that age you prematurely. Aside from stress feeling terrible, it has major negative impacts on your physical and mental health beyond just in the moment. Stress has long term consequences for your physical health and can even cause things like anxiety and depression to develop. Did you know that MOST primary care doctor visits end up being from a stress-related illness?!

Speaking of reducing stress, yoga has powerful stress-relieving and anti-aging benefits. Yoga is a holistic exercise that involves stretching, breathing, and toning your muscles, all with the goal of relaxation in mind. You can try out a variety of yoga poses to help prevent aging and help you feel younger. Here are some of the yoga techniques that make people feel so much younger and healthier overall:
- Simhasana (Lion Pose): Reduces tension on the face and chest area and helps remove wrinkles, delaying the aging process
- Neck Stretching: Eliminate excess fat, prevents sagging neck muscles, and eliminates age-related stiffness
- Hastpadasana (Standing forward-bend): Prevents inflexibility of the spine that comes with age and energizes your nervous system
- Adho mukha svanasana (Downward-facing dog pose): Helps with digestion and tones limbs (both of which are affected by aging)

Adjust Your Nutrients
Obviously, the foods we consume are a huge motivator in our overall health and wellness. Your diet determines how you feel. Cutting out processed foods, and adding in fresh fruits, veggies, and even superfoods rich in antioxidants can make a huge difference in how you feel.
Cutting out (or cutting back on) sugar and caffeine reduce the effects of aging. Sugar and caffeine both age and dehydrate you, so make sure that if you have them, you’re aware of how often and how much you’re having!
Beyond what you’re eating, staying hydrated keeps you feeling younger! Make sure to drink enough clean water every day—it nourishes you from the inside out, keeps your skin moisturized, and makes sure that your digestive system is running smoothly.  Try to aim for half your weight, as the minimum amount of ounces you consume daily. I am 135lbs, so I aim for around 68oz of water daily, so eight or more cups!
